Hally K Ono restaurant (rocks!)

On Saturday, we ate at Hally K Ono, a relatively new restaurant on 312 S. 3rd street, just past San Carlos. According to this entry on the San Jose redevelopment site, "Hally" means "come" in Hawaiian and "K ono" is Philipino for "it's delicious."

Good tagline. The food was an everything fusion. It opened with flatbread and something sort of like hummus, but richer and sweeter. We then ordered...

Me -- Chicken, asian pear and brie sandwich (it came with a lovely bit of salad)
honeyfields -- Shanghai lumpia (also with a bit of salad)
m -- Game hen (with some nice rice and salad)
d -- Some kind of cannolis, I think
y -- A meat dish -- I'll have to ask and maybe update later

The sandwich was great and I enjoyed the lumpia I had as well. Then there was dessert...three of us ordered espresso cheesecake with a marzipan crust, which they liked a lot. I enjoyed the bite I had. I ordered mango crepes, which were excellent.

The total meal was very, very affordable, too. The desserts were only $1.75 each, which is quite cheap for desserts. The food was not super fast, so it's not a quick "drop in and grab stuff to run" place, but with the food as good as it was, I'd prefer to take the time to enjoy it anyway.

Recommended. I hope they stick around for a while.
