random side note:

i have my bunnies back. yay~!

another D&D alignment test

funny how i keep taking these when i haven't ever actually played D&D.

according to this test:

Your alignment: Chaotic Good

i am baby!

finished star wars yesterday. it turns out that it was only the third one that i managed to miss major chunks of, so now the whole trilogy is complete in my mind after we watched return of the jedi right after empire strikes back.

bunfest was really fun. lots of bunnies!!! lots of cute bunnies! there was a lionhead and lop mix that was really cute and i really wanted to get her but i already have two bunnies so i really shouldn't, so i didn't.

instead... i got bunny toys and salt and pepper shakers and wine/cordial glasses with bunnies.

me and parakkum took this test. his result:
My inner child is ten years old today

My inner child is ten years old!

The adult world is pretty irrelevant to me. Whether
I'm off on my bicycle (or pony) exploring, lost
in a good book, or giggling with my best
friend, I live in a world apart, one full of
adventure and wonder and other stuff adults
don't understand.

How Old is Your Inner Child?
brought to you by Quizilla

and so far all the people that took it got this age so i thought that it must be standard.... until i took it:

My inner child is six years old today

My inner child is six years old!

Look what I can do! I can walk, I can run, I can
read! I like to do stuff, and there's a whole
big world out there to do it in. Just so long
as I can take my blankie and my Mommy and my
three best friends with me, of course.

How Old is Your Inner Child?

i am SIX!! i'm still four years younger than parakkum. parakkum says "i'm still dating a younger woman."

this explains a lot of things. like why i drop my articles. actually, that might just have to do with being korean.

statistical, numeric proof...

i remember having a particularly frustrating conversation with a friend of mine regarding the US. i was complaining about how the republican way of dealing with economics and expecting to be the way to take care of the country was ridiculous. and she was saying how if having an overly developed work ethic as a nation would make the US the most economically powerful nation in the world, that it would be worth it. and her thing was that the US actually helps a lot of people worldwide, but that people don't notice that.

so... here are some things from the site that metamanda posted about on 1010blog:

Top 100 GDP - (per capita)
somehow... i don't think the people in Luxembourg are as stressed as the US is. pretty much... nowhere in Europe is as work-oriented as the US. a pretty well-known "father of sociology" figure had a theory about this... that protestantism and puritanism early in its history gave the US the work ethic it required, with the right amount of guilt involved... and with the separation of state and religion, the reason for that work ethic shifted from being a "good christian" to being a "responsible, pragmatic person"... giving rise to capitalism.

Top 100 Economic aid - donor (per capita)
which just proves the point that the US doesn't actually help as many people as it thinks it does. which isn't a big surprise to me. the bigger surprise is how misinformed US citizens are and how that doesn't stop them from talking about things they don't know about.

don't get me wrong, the US has a lot to go for it. but it's still important to be aware of its issues and deal with them instead of wanting a blanket approval from everybody.

so another depressing thing i heard from parakkum:

most people want their leaders to be about as smart as they are. the regular guy. etc etc. they're uncomfortable with the leaders being significantly smarter than they are.

man... i would hope that my leaders are at least as smart or SMARTER. i mean... these are the guys that are supposed to be a kind of "specialist" in policy making and social concerns, right? i mean... that's the job description, right?

do you REALLY want your plumbing to be done by your average guy? or would you want to get your car fixed by them?

i don't think so.

people are just weird.:)

anyway... i'm off to become "educated." today, it is empire strikes back.

dang, i'm going to be stinkin' old~!

according to the lifeline calculator

by our calculations you will live to the ripe old age of 85!

phooey on them.

weird dream part 2.

i was at a horse race where i had front row seats. i beckoned to parakkum to sit in the front row with me. the horses were huge!

then there was some weird sort of intermission and there was the best world barbeque buffet set up in tents around the grassy area.

the following day, same thing, but a friend of mine tore me away from the food, promising me that his friend was having a party-like deal at the mall. so we went, but no one was there.

i woke up feeling all bummed and feeling hungry. "that was damn good bbq"

i'm less hungry now with some bacon and eggs with cream cheese in my tummy. and now i am watching "a new hope". no more 3 star wars movies in a row marathon for me. :)

yummy food

will got a new tv (30" 16:9 CRT flat screen). amanda cooked a yummy meal. it was really yummy salad (with walnuts, grape tomatoes, grapes, feta, lettuce, dandelion greens and brianna's homestyle blush wine vinaigrette. oh oh! and avocado!), yummy pasta (meat, red bell pepper, basil?) and a dessert that we haven't found out about yet. so now i'm all full and watching shrek (surprisingly one of the few dvds with all features, like dts, anamorphic wide-screen, etc).

i'm trying to get as much school work done as possible so that i can just enjoy myself down in san diego this weekend, but i don't know if that will work.

anyway... this was a obligatory entry. back to more school stuff for me. :)

and, of course, shrek. such a cool movie. :)

Weird dreams

too many video games, lack of sleep and look where it gets me:

i'm in a setting where it's a weird combination monkey ball tiltiness macross city. it's some weird adventure where i have to get this card from myself that refers to myself as "erica's friend" to a girl that was in an accident, either sick or dead, who i knew from high school. and throughout all these adventures i am accompanied by a boy who looks like the guy that played slater from saved by the bell. and i'm guessing because of all this adventure, we were verging on that liking each other and learning to trust each other thing where people start feeling all attracted to each other write. this means, at least in my mind, that we want to kiss other and start a relationship. so we're all trying to talk about what happened earlier that day, outside the hospital/hospice room. oddly enough among the people that are there is will, who i know doesn't know this girl. anyway... the boy and i talked and started to kiss. ok, so we kissed once, and then i pulled away, thinking about parakkum and told slater-boy that we needed to talk. while he was upset and walking away from me and turned the corner of the room, some guy tried to kiss him. so that slowed him down enough that i caught up to him and we talked. and i was thinking of how i should handle the situation... should i talk to parakkum about a break? am i being foolish? if there are temptatioins like these, should i be in a relationship? etc etc and anything else my poor neurotic mind could think of. then i had a hard time finding my car when the slater boy came up and wanted to talk and then....

parakkum called. :) and i was torn madness of the random dream that my mind cooked up.

and the funny thing is.... i didn't even find the slater kid that attractive from saved by the bell back in the day. i liked zack.

weird kooky dream.

links

i am going through someone's blog. they gave me the link a while ago, but when i tried it then, the server was down or something. it has a lot of interesting ideas and links, and so i've been posting them here. (courtesy of mike huang's blog)

yet another interesting link:

Alternative Lord of the Rings

i think this is partly why i haven't been blogging as frequently, lately. when i do, i can spend a lot of time doing it when i should be reading or working on my projects.

frodo has failed

Lord of the Peeps

Fellowship of the Peep

i personally find "peeps" disgusting/revolting. i think they were put to better use here than in anyone's stomach. :)

Star Wars

so i am sort of clueless about star wars, since every time i've tried to watch it was starting at 11PM because someone i know would find out that i haven't watched it yet and start a marathon then. needless to say, i haven't ever successfully watched it all.

this is a bonus for you star wars fans out there. :)

Jedi

For those who haven't seen this yet...

Acocdrnig to an elgnsih unviesitry sutdy the oredr of letetrs in a wrod dosen't mttaer, the olny thnig that's iopmrantt is taht the frsit and lsat ltteer of eevry word is in the crcreot ptoision. The rset can be jmbueld and one is stlil able to raed the txet wiohtut dclftfuiiy.

The usefulness of being obsessive

apparently, my being obsessive will come in useful.

i take really detailed lecture notes, sacrificing neatness for more information. then i type them up while i still remember what the material was enough to decipher my scrawl.

usually, this helps as a method of review of the lecture and having a legible set of notes.

this time, i will actually be able to help someone else with my notes. i don't like just handing over my word file of notes to just anyone because i dislike feeling taken advantage of. but this time, in my art history class, there is a guy with a learning disability that needs help in keeping up with the class. since i already type up my notes, i offered to email my notes to him. i found out about this because the professor announced it in class a few lectures ago.

apparently, the benefit to me would be an earlier time to register for classes. which is cool for something i already do. :)

the weekend...

a short entry before i go to sleep. i was going to go right to sleep, but apparently the wine cooler made my tummy feel better and now i'm hungry. so i'm having a croissant with brie.

this weekend was pretty awesome.

first of all, parakkum was in town. :) yay~

friday:
macross (gamecube game) and super monkey ball 2
good korean bbq buffet for dinner with a group of friends -- every once in a while i get a great craving for meat. this fixed some of it. i could've eaten more but we needed to leave to see...
once upon a time in mexico -- which was ok. i liked some of the humor. my favorite part of the movie is definitely: "donde esta marichi?" "cual?" "el" :)
and alisha joined us from this because she was on a spontaneous driving trip up to the bay area from LA.
staying up till 3am to play super monkey ball 2. (i felt this later)

saturday:
more monkey ball
thai house~!!!
white stripes~!!! the concert was fun, the guitar was great and they played the songs i love (the opening act was a little weird, but i think i've heard ima robot before. i think i vaguely recall liking them better wherever i heard them previously than live. friends were saying that they were a revisit to the 80s. i wouldn't know, i was either not in the country or not speaking english most of that decade. and for whatever reason, my friends kept calling me a sanrio character. at least amanda had the decency to say that if i were a sanrio character, i would be badtz-maru.)

sunday:
brunch
more monkey ball, intro to star wars the arcade game, rebel strike and eternal darkness(courtesy of shane)
dropping off parakkum at the airport :(
hanging out with will, ken and amanda (the triumvirate) while trying to do reading for my human sexuality class, which i still haven't determined whether it's actually useful for the class, and later on watching the first half of "the crow"

now i can go to bed knowing that i have provided my wide range of readers with something new to read.

'nite all.

Neutral

A neutral character does what seems to be a good idea. She doesn’t feel strongly one way or the other when it comes to good vs. evil or law vs. chaos. Most neutrality is a lack of conviction or bias rather than a commitment to neutrality. Such a character thinks of good as better than evil. After all, she would rather have good neighbors and rulers than evil ones. Still, she’s not personally committed to upholding good in any abstract or universal way. Some neutral characters, on the other hand, commit themselves philosophically to neutrality. They see good, evil, law, and chaos as prejudices and dangerous extremes. They advocate the middle way of neutrality as the best, most balanced road in the long run. The common phrase for neutral is "true neutral." Neutral is the best alignment you can be because it means you act naturally, without prejudice or compulsion.

i wasn't surprised. were you? :)

EEEEWWWWW

i HATE bugs.

so it was much to my dismay to find a small hive of wasps growing in the corner of my balcony. (he determined that it was indeed a hive and not a spider egg sac, which is also gross. i don't care about charlotte and her web, they are fictional characters)

so parakkum got to be a hero and got rid of the hive for me.

gross~. gross~. gross~.

on a funnier note... we have suspicions that stormy descends from wild bunnies who lived near bulls in spain. apparently, the red squares of my rug enrages her, as she tries to destroy it every night. "torro! torro!" or i guess in her case "conejito! conejito!" :)

D&D Online Alignment Test

Neutral Good

A neutral good character does the best that a good person can do. He is devoted to helping others. He works with kings and magistrates but does not feel beholden to them. The common phrase for neutral good is "true good." Neutral good is the best alignment you can be because it means doing what is good without bias toward or against order.

More myers-briggs

recap:

me: INFP/ISFP
will: ENTP
amanda: INFP/INTP
ken: INTJ

will: "i really am an ENTP. it's really scary."

me: "ken? are you a INTP?"
ken: "INTJ"
me: "you freak~!!"
ken: "damn straight. get used to it."

me: "i don't want to be a INFP. they're flaky pushovers~!"

amanda: "so INTPs are basically dorks."

aside from this myers-briggs test fest, i watched "uptown girls" which was actually pretty fun and cute. kudos.

but what's all with all these chicks being anorexic, rail thin???

Myers-Briggs

so i'm a dabbling myers-briggs follower.

mainly, i find myself surrounded by ISTJs.

today, i made will take the test and he's an ENTP (the Visionary). he also organizes his dvds by color, which i found noteworthy enough to blog about. he's the only person i know that organizes by color. :)

i know i've had people take the test before, but if you're curious, take it again....

the test
a probably more accurate test

and look at the results on this page, since the descriptions are better there:

the descriptions

and if you want to take other variations, tell me and i'll email you the other links. i just didn't feel like linking them all here.

also, if you don't feel funny about it, write your type into my comments. i want to know if there is anyone else out there with my personality type.

Desserts, movie and italian food

before i start, i decided that i like the postal service and i think they're coming to play at the fillmore on november 17th or something like that.

anyway.... i spoiled myself yesterday.

first, i did some necessary errands, like getting pellets for my bunnies. then i went to get a rice cooker for me because the power cord on my last one disappeared somewhere along my many moves. i guess that shows how much rice i ate over summer. :)

so after finally lugging all of agustin's cookingware into my car and finishing my errands, i was 30 minutes late to meeting up with agustin.

but it was ok, since he was late too. boys boys boys.... :)

metreon is having a sundance festival series of movies. they're going to play 4, so we watched the first one called The Other Side of the Bed. it was a fun, Spanish musical movie. though a little messed up too. :)

but before that.... well, i'll make a schedule:

from Just Desserts:
key lime raspberry cheesecake
amaretto cheesecake
chocolate mousse (extremely memorable chocolate bomb)
fruit tart (which agustin made into a regular tart after he ate the kiwi on its own~)

movie

from Figaro's around Vallejo and Columbus in North Beach:
blue cosmo
apple-tini
gnocchi al funghi with four cheese sauce
linguini al pescatore
italian flag
mojito

since we're both lushes, and had sugar overload before the movie, we just ended up getting more drinks instead of dessert after dinner.

yummy YUMMY food.

and the two of us on a student budget...hmmm....

Figaro's music selection was interesting. they would play random pop or disco music.... but in the middle they were playing pavarotti and la boheme.

we talked for a while, then i dropped him off and i got home around 2am. :p

my brain is gone. :)

now i'm off to eat food, do some laundry and to do some more art project stuff.

agustin's entry on this night of hedonism:

...which consequently made me half an hour late for meeting up with a friend of mine, said friend and I saw The Other Side of the Bed which was just as enjoyable the second time for me as the first. I highly recommend that movie to all of you. Before the movie, my friend and I bought desserts from this stand type thing in the Metreon called Just Desserts. We got Amaretto Cheesecake, Key Lime Raspberry Cheesecake, Chocolate Mousse, and a Fruit Tart. We really wanted sugar. They were all so good. The mousse was intense. After the movie we headed to North Beach and ate at Figaro, which is now my absolutely favorite restaurant in North Beach. I had the Gnocchi Funghi with a four cheese sauce. It was orgasmic. So incredibly good. All the food was good. It was great. I can't get over it. Yum.

Gucci or Ralph Lauren?

Ralph Lauren model in tiered skirt with pink vest and striped jacket
Ralph Lauren. A hopeless romantic, you love love.
You are a free-spirit, who paints and explores
nature in her freetime. Ever so girly, you like
flowery things that capture the innocense you
project. Often a bit Bohemian, your style is
usually relaxed and comfortable. Guys adore
your cuter-than-life-itself nature and free-
love philosophy.

Which fashion designer are you?
brought to you by Quizilla

and since i like pavarotti, i got this:

Gucci model in black skintight suit
Gucci. Sophisticated yet sensual, you are cutting-
edge. Extremely classy, your attitude can
sometimes be described as snobby. However, you
are always elegantly outfitted in the latest
trend. You are modern and usually serious, but
sexual at the same time. As far as guys are
concerned, you tend to go after the rich CEO.
Guys love your tough-girl attitude and can't
resist your bold charm.

Which fashion designer are you?

didn't realize that pavarotti was for the snobby, rich people. :D

Personality based on colors...

Yellow and Orange
The Technical Thinkers

Your first thoughts are about how to get things done. By establishing a systematic approach, you better understand tasks, relationships, even life. Your realism makes others see you as technical. You see yourself as one who maximizes resources.

You playfully examine the talents and resources around you. Your experimental approach allows the world to reveal itself to you. This discovery gives you the power to put these talents and resources to better use.

Fun means being emotionally committed to investigating how all the facts fit together. You examine successful parts of a task or relationship as if you were putting together a puzzle. Each piece is a resource or a personal value that can be used to make something new, or to reinvent a relationship. To the amazement of others, you create something original from what already exists.

Under pressure, your technical approach helps you to see what has not been done. This can make others defensive. They see you as being formal or rigid. Since you are usually the first to notice when someone has made a mistake, you make people worry.

Be especially careful if you are in an unstimulating environment. Without new information steadily coming in, you can find yourself in a rut. Others will view you as negative or nitpicking. In actuality, you feel lost and are searching to find what you want.

If you like yellow more than orange, your own personal growth comes before your relationships.

If you like orange more than yellow, you think of what others need before you think of yourself.

Yellow and Purple
The Catalysts

You are on a journey to discover your passion for life. Change fuels your inner fire. First you experience your environment, and then you stand back and analyze it. This sparks your growth and your concerns. You see the value of each moment and have fun when you're committed to personal growth.

Your knowledge of spiritual truths inspires others to discover their own spirituality. Your curious, investigative nature enhances your intuitive powers. You help others become self-aware. By actively listening, making clever observations, and expressing your feelings, you spark the passions of others to initiate positive change.

You are a great communicator. You have the ability to listen without bias, and understand the possibilities of what could be. During conversations, you are a powerhouse. You see right through things and grasp the real essence of what needs to be done. You are at your best, personally and professionally, when you are communicating.

In your obsession with change, you become too concerned about the issues and items of your world. Use your natural talent to know what is real, yet see the possibilities. Simply believe in yourself and you will make the right move. You know how to make positive changes.

If you like yellow more than purple, you first consider the reality of a situation, then you see the possibilities.

If you like purple more than yellow, you consider the possibilities for other people and things before you consider your own future.

Design...

having done only renaissance style drawing while i was at berkeley, it's definitely different to be restricted to only lines and non-representational design elements.

it paid off for me to spend ~6 hours on my gray scale and relative color scale... the teacher used mine as an example of a job well done in class, so i don't have to do mine over again.

i had a lot of fun making designs for my next project as well. i realized that i think in reds and yellows... flashy colors. but for this project, we are restricted to blues and grays. this should be interesting. :)

September 01, 2003

this past weekend...

my parents and my sister drove up to visit this weekend. it was pretty cool.

they got along with my rabbits ok. diane was trying to chase after them and trying to get them to like her. my dad took the easy route and just slept in my room and petted stormy in the morning (she's the most receptive then). and my mom... was scolding them affectionately, all the while trying to hide that she actually does think that they are really cute.

we left for yosemite late in the morning, because we never leave on time. :) we got there around 2, decided to check in to the hotel later and wander around first. we had instant noodles by the merced river with kimchee, because where my parenets are, kimchee is not far off. we drove up to glacier point where we found that....

PAS (Peninsular Astronomical Society) was having a star party~!!

so i got to have a 30-minute constellation talk from the ranger named paul and then see things from about 14 of 33 telescopes in a really clear remarkable yosemite night sky.

some of the stuff i saw (and no, i don't know how to spell these things):
mars rising from the horizon at 815pm
~7-9 shooting stars (i don't keep count very well)
polaris (our north star) - the 51st brightest star
big dipper (ursa major)
casseopeia
cyrrus - the song that inspired a 5-year-old mozart to write the famous "twinkle, twinkle, little star"
vega - which used to be the north star, since polaris and vega change places every 13000 years (called procession of the equinox... or...the wobble of the earth)
interestingly enough, throughout the day, casseopeia and ursa major will rotate around polaris. cool, huh?
great square of pegasus
the neb
altaire
the last three are apparently considered the summer triangle (and i can't point them out to you anymore because my brain was overwhelmed that day)
signus the swan, the eye of the swan being albero (which is actually two stars close to each other - binary star)
entaris, who is the god directly opposite of mars, which comprises the "heart" of scorpio
saggitarius, the archer, who looks more like a teapot that is pouring something onto the tail of the scorpion
where the steam from that becomes the cloudy mass of the milky way
the ring nebulae
andromeda galaxy

and probably lots more that i don't remember.

it was absolutely beautiful. and i pretty much brow-beated my parenets into staying around glacier point for 2 hours so that we could go to the star party since mars was as close as it was going to be for 60000 years and it was yosemite where there isn't the permanent ambient orange glow from city lights. i just thought it was a lifetime opportunity that couldn't be missed.

basically, we were all out there until about 11pm, which is late by my parents' standards since they usually sleep at 10 or 11 and wake up at 5am.

i didn't bother asking them to stay for the clear view of uranus at 230am.

and i only looked through half the telescopes because the other ones were down all these steps and i didn't feel like breaking my neck that night, trying to walk down without a flashlight and only my night vision.

it was beautiful. and even my sister really enjoyed it and thanked me for being a butt and insisting on staying. :)

the next day we had this awesome buffet for brunch at the awhanee (sp?) hotel in yosemite valley. it was good but expensive. i feel ambivalent about going there again. my sister wanted to go to this stream behind the hotel and skip stones because she had a great time doing this with her friend's family last year.

the records were:
my dad - 6 skips
my sister - 6 skips
my mom - 3
me - 10
notable feats - me and my dad managed to skip the biggest rocks, not just the slim, flat ones. we also managed to skip rocks acaross the stream and not just on it, going futher to peg the log that was resting on the other side.

things we saw in yosemite:
el capitan
bridalveil fall
half dome
clark's mounting
nevada falls
lots of other mountains i don't know the names of
lots and lots of trees
a deer
squirrels
birds

the 3000 feet view down into yosemite valley from glacier point can be quite intimidating. especially when all you have is a rail in front of you to prevent you from falling to your gruesome death.

drove toward home and was the last order in a restaurant before it closed. and came home, ending the yosemite trip.

my family drove home today and i was sad. then i started doing my homework assignment and started to get frustrated.

just now, i found out that there was a problem at the store over the weekend and i'm worried. but i'm just hoping that it all work out. and i stayed on the phone with my sister for 30-40 minutes, helping her feel better.

too much drama in my life this past year. :T
