Bunnytalk 101 cont'd

some signs of bunny happiness:

1) all stretched out without a care in the world
2) flopping (throwing one's body on the floor) into that relaxed position
3) "tooth purrs" - grinding of teeth to show happiness. can be seen when eating yummy food and getting a happy forehead petting session
4) the BINKY.

the binky is awesome. the bunny runs around and contorts itself in midair. sometimes they do a straight up in the air hop and land 180 degrees from where they were. their head can turn one way while the body twists another all the while they are running. a lazier binky is when they just shake their head so that their ears flop around.

i saw a new variation this morning... running really fast, a quick hop with a little butt wiggle.

and my parents wonder why i want to live with these guys inside the apartment, instead of leaving them outside. :)

Bunny signs

so i'm pretty sure now that my bunnies really like parakkum.

when bunnies are unhappy with you, they can display several signs.

1) pretending to ignore you (they look away and pretend they're grooming themselves)
2) snorting/lunging at you
etc
etc

you can read the details here:
The Language of Lagomorphs

by far... i think the nastiest expression of unhappiness is PEEING ON YOUR PILLOW. they know it's your pillow by your scent left on the pillow.

and this is how i know that my bunnies like parakkum. sometime after he left, somebunny has peed on his pillow. so i spent a small part of this morning cleaning it...

somebunny was very unhappy about being abandoned.

Yosemite this weekend...

my parents are coming up tomorrow, to see my "swanky pad" and to see yosemite as well. my dad likes to go on family trips whenver he gets the chance, though he doesn't necessarily plan. it's an interesting combination.

so they get to meet my rabbits and see all their poop :)

and i am cleaning like crazy to make it presentable to them. :)

it might motivate me to keep things clean again. my place tends to reflect my inner state of being. when i feel confused/at unrest/upset my place ends up really messy, my food rots and my dishes pile up.

when i'm feeling chipper and things are together, my place will be neat and generally well-organized.

when i'm stressed about something, it can either get REALLY REALLY messy or REALLY REALLY clean. depends on how i'm letting things out.

right now... i want to do my homework. i have reading. i have projects. i have optional reading. and i have experimentations with design concepts to do.

but sleep seems to beckon to me. :)

hopefully by tomorrow i will have my place....
picked up
vacuumed

litter boxes...
empty
clean
change

i'm so proud of myself, i already did the dishes and cleaned the bathroom.

to top the day off more, i have a bunny licking me and making me feel special :)

oh yeah. i played with acrylic paints today. it was fun. i can't wait to start on my project. first time to work with paints, really. how exciting!

Under-representation? (sp?)

so i can bitch about koreans being under-represented for a while. i don't place the blame entirely on the americans being culturally uncouth people. all people are like that. i mean... go to england and see how much they know about other ethnicities, right? or korea, or india, etc etc.

point is, people are only interested in what directly affects them and usually that doens't include other ethnicities.

i blame koreans for it too. they are so insular, take so much pride in being non-integrated and have a history of being so racist they refuse to interact with other ethnicities or explain themselves that they aren't known. then they bitch about not being known, or the japanese being better represented.

self-marketing is important.

but with all that said... i would like to point out the ridiculousness of my human sexuality textbook:

Asian Americans. The broad category of Asian Americans includes many different cultural groups, such as Japanese Americans, Chinese Americans, and Indian Americans, as well as the relative newcomer groups such as Vietnamese Americans and the Hmong....Asian cultures, particularly Chinese culture, have been repressive about sexuality... blah blah blah

i would like to point out how the HMONGs are mentioned but nary a word of koreans. i'm assuming here that there are a greater number of korean immigrants than hmong, but i might be wrong. apparently, we're too sexually repressed to be worth mentioning or something. :)

i want koreans to be part of broad, sweeping generalizations. we're so exclusive that we're excluded.

not that i think this book focused much attention to asians or did any thorough research on them. but koreans should be at least mentioned as an ethnic group, don't you think?

Mars closer than that it will be for another 60000 years?

hey... is anyone planning to see this? give me a call.

Fall 2003 Schedule

MW 900-1015am Art History 70B - Renaissance to Modern
MW 330-620pm Art 12 - 2 Dimensional Concepts
MW 630-920pm Art 1 - Introduction to Careers in Art and Design
TR 12-115pm Child and Adolescent Development 140 - Human Sexuality
TR 300-600pm Art 14 - Color Theory

by next year, all art students are required to have laptops with wireless network capability. i have this covered. this is what i need:

Fall 2004
All students in the School of Art and Design are required as of this date to own a LAPTOP computer and the appropriate software for their classes. Students planning to enter the BFA/BS programs in animation/illustration, digital media art, any of the design fields, or photography should have a laptop computer equivalent to a Mac G4 Titanium, 800 mhz processor, 40 GIG HD, 512 SDRAM, a CD/DVD read/write drive, and an Airport card. All other students (Art Education, Art History, Pictorial and Spatial Art will be required to have a laptop computer as well. A less powerful computer may be adequate for students not directly involved in high end digital processing, but the laptop should have a 40 GIG HD, 512 SDRAM, a CD/DVD read/write drive, and an Airport card. The computer can be a Mac or PC.

anyone want to get me a titanium next year? :)

On a happier note...

jackie chan is on jay leno right now.

i don't usually watch the tonight show but parakkum told me that jackie was on so i turned on my tv. actually, i switched my tivo over to live tv mode. :)

he's so cute. he calls guinness "that gooey stuff." he grows his hair because he's like samson: you cut his hair and he falls off a tree in a stunt. and he's all confused about hong kong style and american style kissing scenes. it's cute. :)

i think jackie is one of my favorite actors. a lot of it has to do with him just seeming like a nice guy. besides, he likes cartoons. that's a definitely plus.

and he likes jay leno's old sofa. :)

actually... i think this was a rerun from last week or something. still... jackie is cute. :)

A more comprehensive look at my last two weekends

metamanda and kwc are blogging gods. i can only hope to be as thorough as they are. then i get lazy. :)

anyway.... metamanda has a good detailed post about the last two weekends that i participated a little bit in:

Metamanda's Weblog: weekend update

some hints:
i had canadian bacon with eggs
orlando bloom is cute
and i did most of "last weekend" except for the running

ok. i need sleep. my mind is very still. i think school fried it.

Benadryl...

i think part of why i hate the mosquito experience is because of benadryl. i don't tend to like things that alter my mental facilities and impair them more than they already are. considering that benadryl will pretty much have me tumbling off to sleep and knock me out, it goes high on the evil drugs list.

this is why i didn't make it to church today. too much drugs. :)

Durwin Talon is Cool

durwin is one of the multiple artists that i accosted with art related questions. he was very cool at the comic con and he is also continuing his coolness.

see... he gave me his email address so that i could pester him with book recommendations from his library. when i finally emailed him, he emailed me back saying that he was still pulling books from his library for my list and that he could send me xerox copies of an out of print book that he considers the best anatomy book out there if i send him my snail mail. apparently, he copies them for his students.

is that awesome or what?

very nice guy.

a few random side notes:

- watched pirates again with parakkum and amanda. there IS a monkey thing at the end of the credites, but the credits are SO LONG that i don't know that it was worth the wait. also, there is no proof that bootstraps turner is actually dead by the end of the movie since he could've just walked to shore with his cannonball tied to his leg. after all, he can't die until the curse is lifted and the atlantic isn't THAT deep, right?
- since i keep forgetting to ask... anyone have old phonebooks that aren't being used? want to donate it to "saving christine's apartment from her bunnies" foundation? :) thanks a bunch.

off to bed for me. i start school tomorrow. i'll post my schedule once i know what it is.

August 23, 2003

The Medallion...

saw this with parakkum today. overall, it was ok. some of it was funny and i liked the action sequences. i didn't like all the story elements, but "the chosen one" is cute. i wonder what it is about asian boys that look cute to me, but not the older asian guy counterparts. i think it's mainly the affect. because affect has a lot to do with a person's appeal to me.

my biggest complaint about the movie is the randomness of the soundtrack. it really threw off some of the humor and the flow of events sometimes.

some of the transitions weren't really transitions. and things kind of jumped around.

but still, it was fun to watch jackie chan do ridiculous stunts.

did you know that he needed to do hapkido before he started his flashy fighting actor career? apparently, a lot of martial art actors and actresses needed to. since koreans love to do flashy things, they have a lot of useless, but fun to watch, high altitude kicks and moves that are great for the big screen.

neat, huh? :)

haha~ what will the japanese think of next??

gundam are these really big, kickass, buff robots, right? apparently, they have a whole show with super-deformed gundam. i think i'm going to have to put that on my tivo out of sheer curiosity.

also... so tivo has been helping me catch up on pop culture. i finally saw "predator" with parakkum today.

man... that movie is such a guy movie:

"i will be muscular, stoic, powerful and blow things up with lots of ammo and explosions. dialogue will be minimal, because it would be too unmanly to talk about anything. if i am down to just my knife, i will go caveman and devise intricate traps while covered in cold mud."

or from the predator's pov: "hunting trip gone bad."

and i just love parakkum's comment about predator 2. "well... you basically find out that the first guy was kinda old and out of shape with bad vision."

hilarious. :)

Programming Language Inventor or Serial Killer?

i found this hilarious test on metamanda's blog...

i got a 6/10. according to them, it's not bad, but i might want to avoid a career in either law enforcement or IT recruitment.

Programming Language Inventor or Serial Killer?

The Gender Genie... cont.

to finally get "guy" rating, parakkum wrote:

Original: I am a guy. No, really, I am a guy. A guy, a guy, a guy. A man. See? Not a woman. A guy.

The Gender Genie thinks the author of this passage is: Male!

unfortunately, it doesn't work the other way:

Original: I am a girl. No, really, I am a girl. A girl, a girl, a girl. A woman. See? Not a man. A girl.

The Gender Genie thinks the author of this passage is: Male!

go check it out if you'd like: The Gender Genie

The Gender Genie (cont. from metamanda's post)

it thinks that parakkum is a girl, by and large. :)

for his articles... 4 out of 6 came out as a girl. for his conversational writing, he got a girl.

i'm dating a girl. :p

To Work or Not to Work?

i just found out that i have some work study funds as part of my financial aid package. this makes me feel like i should work. but at the same time, i really want to have the time to read the optional art textbooks that i purchased and i want to focus on immersing myself into these new concepts i'm really excited about learning.

maybe i should put off working by another semester...?

the other thing is... well, if i were to take on a job on top of the classes i am planning on taking i really wouldn't have blocks of time to spend with parakkum.

people have wondered at how me and parakkum have managed to have a long distance relationship for 4 years... some have attributed it to us not "really" being long distance because we live in the same state and in the same time zone.

well... i figure it's still long distance if it's an 8-9 hour drive and 500 miles away. i mean... some countries are smaller than that, you know?

i think it's worked because we make sacrfices. i don't take on part-time jobs when i could use the extra money, and parakkum and i both blow a boatload of money and time to see each other really frequently. to a certain degree, our social lives are impeded by how much we put in to make the relationship work.

does the sacrifices suck sometimes? yeah.

but is it worth it? definitely.

i figure i can take on a part-time once parakkum is here and then i can see him whenever i have breaks and stuff. probably not now, when i get to see him every 2-3 weeks for 3 days at a time. because having work on some or all of those 3 days would suck, since i only see him then.

at least he'll be up here soon...

Here's an Option for You Ladies...

those australians are forward thinking, for sure:

Lonely? Become a Lesbian

apparently, avon's skin-so-soft lotion acts as a mosquito-repellent. i feel obliged to try it out. wish me luck. :)

A Piece of Beau's Mysterious History

beau is the bun that likes to lick but doesn't like being touched. he's also a bunny that usually doesn't bite/nip unless he's really scared. a true gentleman.

a gentleman who truly is a sugar junkie.

i'm convinced that someone in his past had given him bread and other carbs. the boy stole a piece of my reese's pieces cereal before. and now he's trying his hardest to steal away with my pizza crusts and candy wrappers.

he's also figured out that he can damage my sofa.

meanwhile, stormy is trying to destroy my apartment.

Why I Believe in Evolution

mosquitoes exist.

even though it seems like their existence is not necessary in any way or form since whatever eats them could survive on other things.

and also... you have people like me, millions of times larger than mosquitos... still suffering from mosquito bites. i'm not anaphylactic, but i know that i'm affected more than other people. the little bumps i get from mosquito bites aren't little. they actually get to be as big as peaches and mangos. not as round, but definitely as wide. and the surrounding the bites will ache, as if i had arthritis.

and how inefficient is that?

not very.

and there are tons of stuff like that. i could write whole pages on examples in biology that would make more sense to have be derived in a another way, but i won't. that would be too much homework.

and i don't think that you have to believe in creationism to be christian. that's the same kind of mentality that had the catholic church make galileo, a good scientist, a scapegoat.

if you want to believe that the earth is the center of the universe and require that to be some proof of being christian, just be ready to be wrong, too.

i don't see how believing in creationism dictates whether you're christian or not.

and what about all those conservative, good, christian politicians and republicans that say stuff like "survival of the fittest"? :)

i distrust people that say that to be christian, you have to be a bad scientist. besides, i seriously doubt that the jews cared about how the earth of made, since they were writing things down to preserve their heritage.

every good story needs a beginning. it's like "once upon a time..." and bickering over how long a time ago that was. :)

Planning...

there will be a day when i won't have to plan like a mad-woman anymore. i look forward to that day.

that will be when parakkum moves up from san diego.

then i won't have to plan things ahead of time to match when parakkum comes up for weekends.

once i figure out which church i'm going to attend for good, i won't have to plan ahead for sunday brunches, because i'd have a set time for which i'd be ok for.

then i can be like the normal people and do things spontaneously. like go off biking in napa for 26 miles on whim when my friends asked me the day before. :)

$$$

man... i'd forgotten how much books cost for school. that and for my art classes in berkeley, they didn't require books. or even have recommendations, really.

but at sjsu, the art classes have a either required or optional books and the nerd in me says that these will come in handy no matter what.

so... i donated $300 to the textbook industry today. it makes me feel like i need to join the book industry on the supply side some day so that i can make up for my "losses." :)

So I Was Wrong...

my legs do hurt. i'm trying to make myself feel better by watching tv and taking personality tests.

a nap doesn't sound too bad, either.

actually... i think my legs hurt because of the pair of mosquito bites i got last night. damn pesky things. :(

Good stuff, you are "Wedding? I love

funny thing is... i haven't had one of these yet. yet another drink to try out. :)

You represent... insanity.
You represent... insanity.
You're quite a quirky little creature. You're
emotions are varying. You may appear childish
and innocent, but you have a tendency to freak
out. You're incredibly random, but it's good
to be unique. People know you're an odd one,
but you certainly don't mind.

You represent... anger.
Mad at the world, eh? You have a tendency to...
freak out easily. Overly emotional about
everything, you're most prone to bouts of

afraid of the fact that you explode so easily,
but at least you're honest... even if you're
honest about not liking anything.

i have this weird feeling that i've taken this test before...

right now... i really have a hankering for chocolate. i wish i knew where great chocolate was. i know of a place in PV but that would cost me 12 bucks to ship it, and 42 for 3 pounds of chocolate (1 pound is minimum for each type).

i know of a dessert place in berkeley, but not really chocolate.

CHOCOLATE~!!!

One of These Days...

i'm going to learn to *ease* my way back into training. :)

recall that i tried out wing lam last thursday. which was a lot of fun, but made me hurt in various ways for days.

i went biking around napa valley yesterday. and it was a lot of fun even though i was the pokey one. it made me wonder... wow, i must be really out of shape.

little did i know how much gears made a difference. :)

you see.... the last bike i owned was a 3-speed bike that had pink handles, seat and tires with a purple frame. if you peddled backwards, that was the brake.

so this whole 24-speed hybrid bike was beyond my understanding.

but i'm really proud of myself. i bike about 2/3rds of ~26 miles with a pessimal understanding of gears, thus making it really hard (i honestly felt like those poor hamsters in their wheely toy). but on the way back, with a crash lesson on gears from ken, i reached up to 22 mph and was able to get back to the bike shop (~8-9 miles) without any breaks.

and oddly enough, i don't feel that bad. my butt hurts from the bike seat, and my legs are a little sore, but that's about it. i am sleepy though.

and man... the food that we had yesterday made everything worth it:

little temptations (6 little appetizers that were really yummy: chorizo with peace spears, shrimp with avocado/guacamole, leek soup, some slice of meat with veggies and cheese on top)
fois gras
butternut squash risotto
linguini with clams
creme brulee
wild peach kire

very yummy. we ate at a place called greystone castle, i think. it was a culinary school and restaurant, so gourmet food. and man... did everything taste good.

Light Reading...

so it's been brought to my attention that some of my friends don't think that "the hobbit" is light reading.

and i would say that it isn't heavy reading... but i definitely know people that would be boggled by the big words in there. and considering that the national average is reading one book a year, i doubt that some of those books are on the reading level of the hobbit.

but yeah... i find it funny, especially, because i know that this chick was reading the simarillion and anna karenina for fun.

i just think that it's cool that i have literate friends. because i also have a bunch of friends that don't read much. and what's more interesting is bumping into people that just say flat out that they don't read books at all.

it's mind boggling to me because where are you getting your information then? where are you learning to think? the media?

now there's a scary thought. no wonder bush still has an approval rating above 50%.

A Day at the Races

i went to the bay meadows race track today. it was interesting. some people would get really worked up over it, so you would get this automatic wave as the people stand up to see which horse is ahead as the horses approach the finish line.

i also had this unpleasant experience with a guy in the parking lot. basically, he took my space. i honked. he still took it saying that it didn't matter that i waited for it. i was annoyed so i told him that he shouldn't live his life that way. he said that i didn't know him to which i said "as if it matters." and then he threatened me with "it's a good thing you're a girl." it was so lame that all i could think to say was "yeah, whatever, jerk" and drove away.

it really makes you wonder what it is about society that makes guys into such jerks. after having moved to south bay, i really get the impression that people think it's acceptable to treat women like meat. i know it happens everywhere, but it feels the guys here live under the delusion that it's acceptable here to say things like "excellent" or "nice" and that women walk around to have illiterate, machismo, idiot men leer at them and asking them out after a brief inspection of the meat, as if they were god's gift to womanity. at least in berkeley, there was some sort of facade that i was a regular person with my own business to attend to. another steller example of males is this guy, who thinks that he's doing me a favor for not beating me up, because i'm a girl. of course, that didn't stop him from taking my parking spot. :p

it makes me want to deck the guys or confront them about how stupid they're being, but that would probably just land me in jail or anger management classes.

anyway... the horses were definitely the greyhounds of horses. all the horses i'd seen previously have been bigger and more muscular. either they were casual riding horses or jumping horses.

these guys were lean and muscular and glossy. think hair care commercial shiny. :)

it was kinda funny that i could pretty regularly pick out the horses that would place and show, but never the winner. i didn't bet, because i've been feeling poor lately, but it was still fun to call which beast would do well.

it makes me want to read seabiscuit now. :)

tomorrow, i'm going to skip church to go to bike in napa and taste some wines. and now i'm eating some baguette with spinach dip and brie cheese.

ha~ i think this is about as high brow as i get. :D

so while xanga was down,

so while xanga was down, i started a new blog with tripod. i haven't decided which one i like better. why don't you tell me?

Something I Meant to Blog Before

i feel like i have very scarily intelligent friends, as evidenced by this post:

The Hobbit

Just blazed through The Hobbit last night, partly reading, partly skimming, mostly because I've already read it twice. Largely this was because I was feeling a little braindead and wanted some light reading to go with my beer.

haha. i just like how the hobbit is "light reading to go with her beer. my friends are awesome.

as for my very own pirate name...

Mad Charity Cash

Every pirate is a little bit crazy. You, though, are more than just a little bit. You're musical, and you've got a certain style if not flair. You'll do just fine. Arr!

What's My Pirate Name?

Why I am a Planning Freak

i think i can fairly accurately surmise where my obsessive tendencies to plan things come from.

my parents decided today that they want to stay in yosemite for a saturday night of labor day week. that's in two weeks. :)

and since i'm resourceful, i got to be in charge of reservations. so this is why i'm up this late.

all in all, it should be fun. i was able to find a place just outside of the entrance to yosemite national park, because all the places in the park itself are booked. and apparently, awahanee (sp?) is supposed to have good breakfasts.

food is *always* important in trips. :) because i'm a little porker.

stormy did a pretty cool thing today. they helped me determine which hay they like better because they diligently ignore the other one. stormy went so far as to use her forelegs to pull out the box holding the "good" hay into the open area so both she and beau could pig out on it. she hooked her paws over the box and hopped backwards with her hind legs.

neato or what?

no wonder i have such a hard time protecting my apartment... she's too smart. :p

August 15, 2003

Moved from Xanga.com

xanga is apparently having some problems right now. they said that they're moving to a new isp, but it hasn't happened yet. so i moved.

new things:

+ i tried wing lam (specifically, northern shaolin) out yesterday. now my body feels beaten and i want a rubdown. any volunteers? :)

+ stormy is on some weird destructive rampage. i think the alfalfa feed it acting like sugar for hyperactive kids. unfortunately, i still need to have alfalfa feed around for beau, who is still a growing bun. i mourn for my security deposit on the apartment, and worry for having to pay more than that when i move out.

+ i decided against going to tahoe this weekend because i felt funny. instead i get to see my first horse race tomorrow and try out a new church on sunday.

+ finally whipped out the sketchpad and charcoal and drew some things. i'm definitely rusty, but it felt great. :) still having those pesky issues with space and moments of focus.

+ i'm being good... i'm finally going through the art magazines i subscribed to. so two artists that i've noticed so far that i want to keep up with:
- Ignacio Iturria - painter. good idea of space, i think. his composition interests me. also, i like how some things are left in obscurity while others are in focus. it reminds me a lot about what jane used to talk about in class.
- David Kessler - photographer. though i honestly thought what i was seeing was a drawing, or silk ink painting, it was so fluid.
- Rob Douglas - i like the colors and the luminosity
- Jorge Leyva - some of his command on space is awesome, others a little shaky. his clouds can be a little flat, but there are some stuff where his use of wax, color and composition really makes for an interesting piece.
- Carol Kucera - think... inside of an abalone shell. it seems to glow off the page as well as flow through it.
- Petria Mitchell - amazing landscapes that aren't trite but beautiful with their lights and darks
- Dee Ferris - i'm finding it a bit difficult to find her stuff, but the one painting i did see if hers in my magazine is very fairytale, shimmery and ethereal. quite beautiful, actually.
- Helen Frankenthaler - her works are painting but they are very free and flowing. i feel like she has great attentiveness to what is going on with her materials and responding to it as well.
- Kurokawa Suizan - his photographs look like paintings...
- Alain Moulis - french dude, vegetables/fruits that pop out of the canvas, paintings that look like a blend of photograph, photos and charcoal drawings
- tomislav - with abstract markmakings he beautifully renders human form
- Will Klemm - some more interesting landscapes
if any of these guys come out with a book, i want it. :)
if you want to look into the artists works they are readily available through google.

+ Judy Pfaff - jane used to mention her a lot. i like her more recent works.

+ marc chagall exhibit in sfmoma. i'm going with parakkum next week. i figure if i'm going to study art, that shouldn't be limited to only the classroom and books. yay me. :D

i pulled a college thing

i pulled a college thing and spent all night long talking to my old roommate. it was pretty cool, we touched on a lot of topics and since she'd gone to london for 4 months and got back and started working quite recently, it felt like we hadn't gotten a chance to talk like this in a long while.

the sad thing is... since i am growing older and havn't done something like that since.... 2nd year of college, my body feels really beaten and my mind feels like goo.

and i have a friend's party to go to. so that should be interesting. but i'll get yummy food, whichh is good. there's only so much risotto that a person can eat for this long.

Atreyu.... It's a bnd that

Atreyu.... It's a bnd that sounded interesting, so I downloaded some songs, to see if I wanted to pick up the album that I saw at Bestbuy.

I like their music, but not the singing. They sing alright, I just don't like the low throat screaming/chanting thing much. Which is too bad, because if that aspect wasn't there, I would totally go out and by the album. I was curious about it because i liked the title of their album and the cover art.

Not the best critereon for buying CDs, I know. But at least I know what they sound like.

The album name was...
Suicide Notes and Butterly Kisses.

ok... so i just beat

ok... so i just beat pikmin. wondering whether i should call shane on that offer.... the one where if i beat it in a day, i get free dinner. that and i tell him how to beat the last level.

it took me about...17 hours to beat. i had a busy day yesterday, so i didn't try to do it all then.

the pikmin are so cute! i thought that there was a purple one, but i guess i was wrong. it's kinda cool too that you're basically killing bugs. i have no problems with that.

just.... the pikmin sound so pitiful when they die. i am bad pikmin master. seriously... i started just leaving them for dead because i'd labored too long and finally got a part after much suffering to not save it.

so my stats are horrible:

surviving pikmin: 147
lost pikmin: 791

the poor little guys...

and the ending was kinda cool. i don't want to spoil it though, so if you want to know, email me.

i was apparently overly perfectionistic and got all 30 parts when really you only need like 27 or something. apparently, some of the items are luxury items.

anyway... entertaining, yes. cute characters, yes. sympathizing with your companion creatures, yes.

that's probably why i won't be able to play this game again. i tortured them once for the sake of completion, but i honestly could put them through that again.

accomplishments of the day: -

accomplishments of the day:
- i have all but two of the hidden characteres for super smash bros. melee
- i have all but 6 of the hidden stages in super smash bros. melee
- i have completed 39 out of 55 event matches in super smash bros. melee
- my dishwasher is full of dishes that are currently being dried (this leaves me with all the pots, pans and cookie sheets)
- finally finished harry potter 5
- started another book
- cuddled with my buns
- booked a flight to go to LA on labor day weekend

hmmm... argued with my dad last week. he offered, on a prior conversation, to pay for all my flights home. i'm pondering how to bring this up to him while i'm still unhappy with him. i might just put it off until i'm happier.

my housewarming went well. that is why i have all those dishes leftover. i will quote my buddy agustin from his blog, because i'm too lazy to write it all myself:

"So, yesterday was my friend's housewarming party, the one that I volunteered to help cook for because I told her there was no way in hell she was going to invite a gay man to a housewarming party and get away with pizza and soft drinks as the only source of food. It was a blast, and we made so much food. More precisely, we made so much risotto. We spent all day cooking. Well, she did. I got to her place late, since I slept through my alarm. I ended up getting up at 9:00 AM instead of 6:00, and I didn't get to her place in San Jose until around 1:30. She had been chopping vegetables since 10:00 AM when I got there. At that point we got down to the actual cooking. Desert had been baked the previous evening. I was in charge of the cheescake, she took care of the key lime pie. Anyway, by the time guest started arriving, we had everything done except for the two risottos. Two hours into the party, the last risotto was done cooking. By that time, all the other food was pretty much gone. Here's the menu:

Stuffed mushrooms
Spinach and feta triangles (AKA mini-pseudo-spanakopita)
greek salad
Apples and walnuts with Stilton cheese
Vietnamese summer rolls with peanut sauce
Deviled Eggs
Pesto risotto with eggplant
Shrimp risotto
Asparagus with rosemary pesto
Cheesecake
Key Lime pie

I think that's it, but I might have forgotten something. Anyway, ALL of that was made from scratch. And surprisingly all of it turned out really well. We got tons of compliments on the pies. I've made cheesecake before so I'm not a stranger to the process, but it was the first time that my friend had baked a key lime pie, with a meringue top and all, and it was incredibly good. The whole cooking process was hell though, I know we both felt way over our heads, but I'm sure she'll agree that it felt really good to keep getting compliments on the food all night long. It was a shit load of work, but so worth it. Then again, I didn't have to deal with dishes."

that's right, because i'm dealing with the dishes. not too bad if you do what i do and just zone out and wash.

i was really surprised. i think we had a good 18 or so people at the party. saddest thing was that i didn't have a corkskrew, so parakkum had to open wines with my leatherman until a neighbor brought his swiss army knife. other than that, it was great.

oh yeah... amanda made this scrumptious fig things, with gorgonzola and prosciutto. yummmm~ and riesling wine is great. that's because i'm a wine wus still and only like the sweet wines so far.

anyways... sleep for me
