the dangers of tivo
aside from the obvious ones--like ending up watching more tv than you might otherwise, or being enslaved into taking care of tivo (upkeep, deleting programs off your todo list so that tivo doesn't die while you're out of town, etc)--i found another one...
tivo is a spoiler for movies.
especially the suspense ones.
you're enjoying the movie, la-di-dah... oh look, the happy ending.... oh wait, there are 30 minutes left... that means that... ohhh....
bad tivo!

Maybe they need a spoiler-free TiVo that refuses to display the time bar.

but the same could be said about watching a movie any other way if you have a watch and know the estimated length of it, like with dvd players with counters and watching movies on tv, knowing the movie goes from 8-10pm and will have x number of commercials. "p
