shameless plug for gifts
i would like to request that anyone who was planning on getting me anything for the holidays to look at my wishlist on amazon.
it will save you shopping time and a horrendous trip to the mall and it will ensure that you are giving a poor art student something that she has been lusting after for months. if you're worried about the surprise factor, amazon automatically keeps the purchased items on the list for the holiday season, so that the person doesn't notice that the item has been purchased.
Comments
doesn't that mean that people can end up buying two of the same things for the person, or does it show to the purchaser only that it's been purchased already?

The wish list shows external viewers only this gifts that have not yet been purchased, so there's no risk of duplicate purchases.
It's handy.
