Women's Day

Apparently it's Women's day. Damn... I didn't dress up or anything...

It's kind of annoying that this had to be pointed out to me by my creepy co-worker. As the only woman in my group, I started wondering how many women are in the management chain under my director. And the grand total is 2 out of a total of about 40 people. Now, this is a semi-technical group (and hence the possible bias toward men - justified or not), but that number still seems wildly out of whack.

Another thought on Women's Day - I am profoundly blessed to live in the United States and to have all the freedoms and rights that I take for granted - the right to vote - to have a say in how the world I live in is run, the right to dress as I choose, the right to own property, the right to bear arms - even if I don't choose to exercis that right, the right to an abortion if I choose - although that right is being tested, the right to be treated the same under the law as men - i.e. to not have a different punishment for a woman as for a man, etc.

More ponderances later...
