well,

people generally like michigan avenue. a lot of the original buildings were destroyed by a fire in the early 1900s, but a few buildings remain on michigan ave. there's lakeshore drive, that is just beautiful, and the museum there, as well. also, some people really like the comedy clubs in chicago, and i saw one that wasn't too bad. the chinatown there is somewhat unremarkable, and the neighborhoods near uchicago can be sketchy, so be careful :)

Millenium Park is the big new architectural attraction there and features works by Gehry.

I've only ever been a tourist there, myself, but I really enjoyed Ed Debevic's. It's a Michigan Ave. (that's the main drag in downtown, right?) attraction... an old style diner, where they employ actors to give you some sass. Quite a lot of fun.

Although, I only went there like 10 years ago, so not sure if it's still there/still fun.
