Date 13: Dinner 1, Movie 0

Last week, we had plans to go out for dinner, but Littlestar was so tuckered out by her week that she suggested take-out food and a home movie instead. She figured she'd be home around 7:30 or so, so a little ahead of that, I drove over to Castro street so I could cut out the "driving there" time once she called me and said she was home. Then I read my book.

I think she made it home around 8 or later. :) She called, I picked up food and headed over.

After a quick scan through movies she had on hand (and hadn't watched), we decided to go for King Kong. We'd both liked the Lord of the Rings movies and had heard decent things about this one.

Ah, but we were wrong.

As we enjoyed our dinner (duck curry, softshell crab in spicy sauce, "shrimps in crepes" -- which ends up being wrapped, fried shrimp), we didn't enjoy the movie. Littlestar called out "boring" before I was willing to say it, but as the movie went on, we ended up checking in on it as a sideline to looking at pictures from Littlestar's trip to New York (from which she'd just returned the preceding Sunday).

The pictures were far more fun and interesting than the movie.

(In between looking at pictures -- "Shouldn't she be dead by now?" "Are we supposed to care about him?")

Eventually, I gave up as well, and we declared the movie done. We reverted fully to New York picture viewing for the remainder of the date. I wish I could remember most of the stories that went with the pictures, but it was honestly just fun to hear Littlestar enthuse about a trip on which she obviously had a blast.

She says she has to live in New York someday.
